Purpose of the Job:
The Inventory Clerk is responsible to conduct regular stock counts and reconcile
discrepancies between physical stock and system records
Job description
Inventory Management & Record Keeping
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date inventory records.
- Ensure proper filing and maintenance of inventory documentation.
Stock Control & Reconciliation
- Perform regular stock counts and assist with periodic stock takes.
- Reconcile physical stock with system records.
- Investigate and resolve stock variances in collaboration with the warehouse team.
Warehouse Coordination
- Work closely with the Warehouse team to track stock movements.
- Support the warehouse in maintaining proper stock handling and control procedures.
Reporting & Analysis
- Prepare inventory reports for Finance and Management.
- Highlight discrepancies, slow-moving, or obsolete stock.
- Provide insights to improve stock control and efficiency.
Reporting & Analysis Compliance & Audit Support
- Ensure adherence to company policies and inventory control procedures and audit requirements.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing required documentation.
- Maintain audit trails for all inventory transactions.
Minimum requirements
- Grade 12 / Matric
- Diploma or certificate in Finance, Accounting, or a related field will be advantageous
- 1–3 years’ experience in inventory, stock control, or a similar role
- Basic understanding of financial principles and inventory management
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Excel and inventory/ERP systemsStrong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good numerical and analytical skills
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to investigate and resolve discrepancies
- Strong collaboration skills, especially with warehouse operations
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
