Introduction
We are looking for a Health and Safety Officer to join the team for 6 months. You must provide support in promoting Safety, Health and Environment within an organisation. Maintain and implement all aspects of the OHS Act and Regulations and ensure that the organisation complies with Environmental regulations and other requirements. The role focuses on minimizing risks, maintaining regulatory compliance and improving the overall safety and environmental standards of the workplace.
Job description
- Facilitate risk assessments
- Conduct incident investigations and identification of root cause and ensure that preventatives actions are
implemented - Coordinates all H&S training of employees
- Update all legal appointment letters and & SHE policies
- Assist with IOD Claims submissions to RMA
- Compile Monthly SHE reports
- Carry out job observations on high-risk activities and provide feedback
- Compile & conduct toolbox talks to the staff
- Ensure that all contractors and suppliers adhere to SHE policies and procedures
- Conduct induction for all employees, visitors and contractors
- Coordinate and assist with emergency response/fire drills
- Draft SHE Procedures and send them to management for review
- Attend and participate in SHE Committee meeting/assisting with minutes
- Auditing of Safety files and issuing of Permit to work to the contractors
- Ensure that waste procedures are being followed
- Ensure that aspect and impact register is updated and reviewed
- Conduct inspections and compile report relating to SHE matters
- Ensure that all first aid boxes and fire equipment’s inspections and maintenance are conducted and up to
date - Ensure that corrective actions for incident investigation, risk assessments and audits are implemented
Minimum requirements
- Sound Knowledge of applicable legislation (OHS Act, COID Act, Fire Prevention, etc.)
- Occupational Health and Safety Management systems ISO 45001 & Environmental management systems ISO 14001
- Ability to plan, organise and co-ordinate and facilitate
Education/Qualifications & Experience
- Relevant National Diploma/Advanced Diploma in safety management/Environmental Management
- At least 3-5 years’ relevant experience
